When decluttering I always like to start with my clothing. It usually takes me 2 full days to go through ALL of my clothing and accessories. Since many of you are busy and can't dedicate 8 consecutive hours to decluttering your clothes I decided that the first 5 days should be dedicated to Clothing and Accessories. This will allow you to work at your own pace. If you don't need the full 5 days, then I would recommend focusing on other areas of your bedroom (ex. declutter your bedside table, the items hiding under your bed, etc.) or you can focus on helping other people in your home declutter their own wardrobes (ex. spouse/partner, children. Don't forget winter outerwear if you live in a cold climate like me!). If you need more time, don't worry, you can work at your own pace and start on Day 6 whenever you're done your Clothing and Accessories. I have compiled a Checklist so that you don't miss anything, as well as some helpful hints on Getting Started. Save these images to your phone or print them off so that you can refer to them throughout the process.

Tips on Decluttering: There are a lot of ideas when it comes to decluttering. I personally find it helpful to decide what you need/want to keep and get rid of the rest! It's easier to focus on the positive, instead of the negative... Positive: What am I keeping? Negative What am I getting rid of? (After all, you don't go to a store, fill your cart, and then decide what you DON'T want to buy!)
Tips on Decluttering Clothing:
DO NOT try anything on!
Empty your closet and drawers (one category at a time) onto a clear surface like your bed. Look at each item as though you are shopping.
Ask yourself: "Do I like this? Do I wear this? Is it comfortable? If this were brand new, would I spend money on this and buy it? I find the last question the most helpful. If you answered yes to most of these questions, then hang it up, or put it away in your drawer!
When I'm sorting clothing I find that I see items in the pile that I love and quickly grab them to hang up. Sometimes an object gets in my way that I know I don't want and I toss it into a box or bag for donations. Sometimes there are a few items that I'm unsure of, so I move them out of the way to get to the items I know I want to keep. I usually end up donating these once I'm finished. I can easily get rid of half of my clothing by just choosing what I want to keep!
I challenge you to donate a minimum of 1 item per day! There's no limit on the maximum! Please comment below with your numbers so we can cheer you on!
